CSTA PBC/Broward Chapter has been a dream in the making for many computer science educators for the past several years.We are now official, and ready to serve as a brave space for educators who are interested and invested in the field of CS. The timing for this chapter could not be better, as evidenced by the participation of over 200 teachers from the Palm Beach and Broward schools in the Florida Department of Education's certification bootcamp series, held just a few weeks ago. We wish all of these teachers the best as they get ready to take their certification exam. We applaud the dedication and passion of our teachers!
We hope that the CSTA PBC/Broward will serve as an incubator for aspiring CS teachers as they navigate curriculum, pedagogy, and best practices in the classroom. We also rely on the collective knowledge and wisdom of ALL teachers to fuel each other's inspirational needs. We hope to see active participation and mentoring from veteran CS teachers from our area schools.
We foresee a future where CS will be taught as a core skill, and we welcome the involvement of teachers, administrators, parents, industry partners, and other academic partners in helping us along this journey.
